Wintertime doesnt just mean christmas and gifts, it also means snow, ice and slippery roads.
Many people are stuck in der Stau (traffic jam) or waiting in the main hall at der Flughafen (airport) because their flight is cancelled.
Lots of trains running late or will even get cancelled. And this all happens before Weihnachten (christmas) when everybody wants to get to their families in time.
Der Eurotunnel (Euro tunnel) was hit extremly hard by these weather conditions. The operating company Eurostar closed down the connection from London to Paris and London to Brüssel (Brussels) and will send some trains as a Testfahrt (test run), which will pass through the Ärmelkanal (English Channel). Nearly 60000 people are hit by the disaster which will interrupt their Reisen (journeys)
