Driving is one activity that you either love or hate. With so many cars on the road today it can be a real pain fighting your way through the traffic, on the other hand die Freiheit (freedom) and die Unabhängikeit (independence) you get with a car can transform your life where before you relied on public transport.
Das Auto (car) began its dominance on the travel industry throughout the early 1900′s with many advances in technology throughout the last 100 years enabling a car to be mass produced and easily available to most people.
The modern day car has 4 Räder (wheels) with rubber tyres. There are some cars who have chosen the 3 wheel approach but this is not common. The average car has 2 Vordersitze (front seats) and 3 Rücksitze (back seats). Sports cars however more often than not only have 2 front seats due to their size. The driver relies on many things to operate a car which include 3 Pedale (pedals), a Steuerrad (steering wheel), a Gangschaltung (gear stick) and Spiegel (mirrors).
When you own a car, there are certain things you need to do to maintain it. You need to replace your Scheibenwischer (windscreen wipers) regularly, your Scheinwerfer (headlight bulbs) and other bulbs and service it regularly. If you do not look after your car then you run the risk of breaking down on the side of the road.
A car does provide great freedom but it does come with a lot of Verantwortung (responsibility).
