A Frühjahrsputz (spring clean) in January is not a bad idea. It doesn’t need to be in Spring to do it. Often you will find some hidden items you forgot existed, and sell them on eBay or in a Flohmarkt (flea market) for some extra cash.
Commonly you will find things such as old Handys (mobiles), MP3 players, Markenklamotten (designer clothes), DVD’s and CD’s. These items can easily be sold on, Parfum (perfume) is an especially good seller on eBay which you will mostly get a high price for.
Maybe you could even do a big clean in your Grandma’s Dachboden (loft). You may find precious antike (antique) items, for example Briefmarkenalben (stamp albums), altes Geld (old money), Ölgemälde (oil paintings) or even items from the zweiten Weltkrieg (Second World War).
