What do foreigners think about the English? We tried to answer this Frage (question).
Many people think, that the English have their own Lebensstil (way of life) in general their own ways. They measure in inches and feet instead of centimeter and meter, weigh a person in stones instead of kilos and pints instead of litres for fluids. The cars drive on the wrong side of the Straße (road) and they pay with Pfund (pounds) instead of euros.
The English are also very berühmt (famous) for their humor, their eccentric personalities and for cricket.
Even the Fußball (football) fans have made the Schlagzeilen (headlines). The English naturally speak the language mostly spoken in the world so therefore do not feel the need to learn a foreign language.
The English are very friendly, hilfsbereit (helpful) and höflich (polite). If you forget just once to say thank you and please, its classed as rude and as bad behavior. An English person will always apologise for anything that might be unpleasant. This is why often, if you accidently bump into them or even just accidently touch them, an English person will say sorry.
The famous English tea cannot be forgotten. At first, tea was something for the nobel people of England and is up to today a very valuable commercial resource. “Tea time” is a very wichtig (important) factor of the English culture and England is therefore known as the “nation of the tea drinkers”.
