Christmas Shopping has started

noel_christmasFinally it’s december and not long to go til xmas. Everyone starts looking forward to the food, the days off and of course to their presents. But buying for xmas also comes with the hazzle you have to go through to get your friends and family’s presents. No parking spaces in town, busy stores and endless queues at the checkout, not to mention the light wallet at the end of it ;-)

In Germany, it’s not much different. You have keine Parkplätze (no parking spaces), überfüllte Läden (overfull stores – instead of “busy store” you actually would say “over full”) and endlose Schlangen vor der Kasse (endless queues in front of the checkout).

But after all, we all enjoy Christams day, when we can relax, lay back and enjoy the yummy christmas food.  And while a lot of countries in the world celebrate their christmas on the 25th of December, Germany have already had their Christmas on the 24th of December. This is called Weihnachtsabend (christmas evening) and people go to die Kirche (church) and afterwards they open their Geschenke (gifts) unter dem Weihnachtsbaum (under the christmas tree).
