Speak German better with native German speakers

To speak German is one of the most difficult steps to make when trying to learn German. To speak German, you must do 2 things on a regular basis:

  1. Listen how native people speak German. By listening to native German speakers, you will be able to hear how words are pronounced. You will automatically pick this up and try to repeat this when you try to speak German. Listening is often overlooked when learning German as it can be difficult to understand what people are saying, especially when you are a beginner. However, even if you do not understand all the words, listening to natives speak German will help improve your own speaking skills.
  2. Practice speaking German. This is the obvious one but without question the most difficult. Whenever you can, whether it is with a “learn German” course, when you are in Germany on holiday or simply when you have some free time, you must practice to speak German. The more you practice, the better you will get. You should not worry about getting the pronunciation exact, but just practice speaking the words clearly so you are understood.
